We trade from the Commercial Warehouse on Herbert Street — a brick building put up in the 1870s, when a shepherd's gold strike turned Gulgong from a paddock into one of the richest towns in the colony almost overnight.
It was built to keep a gold-rush town supplied. It still is, more or less, though the shovels have given way to mop heads and dog collars. The IGA trades on the level above ours, which is where the name came from.
Astonishing what they fit in there. I went in for a mop and came out with half a Christmas list.
Saves us driving out of town every time something runs out. Staff are lovely too.
Proper old-fashioned variety store. Far bigger inside than it looks from the street.
We're on Herbert Street in the Commercial Warehouse, with the IGA on the level above — which is how we got the name. Step straight in off the street.

Gulgong's main street runs to galleries, museums and pubs, which is lovely until you need sunscreen, a phone charger, a hat or a present you didn't plan on buying. We're the shop for that — and we're right on Herbert Street.
